For more than nine years Pastor Skip and Marisha have been associated with Cornerstone Assembly of God as members and ministry volunteers. They came there just months after they were united in marriage and upon his completion of Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God. It wasn’t until 2006 that God opened the door for he and his wife to serve as the Senior Pastors over this church that they had grown to love. Ministry for Skip prior to this new appointment, mostly consisted of his ministry work with Teen Challenge Cincinnati, a residential faith based program for adult men who have life controlling issues like addiction. Skip was the intake director for eight years, visiting jails, homeless shelters, and ministering to the brokenness of men’s lives. Recently, he became an author of his his first book "Rediscovering Identity", a journey from addiction to identity in Christ. The book has made a tremendous impact on the lives of many young men, and is still used at Teen Challenge Cincinnati, Ohio. It also has been translated in Hindu language to be used in the slums of India as well as Teen Challenge of New Delhi. I am Amy Blankenship, Children's Pastor here at Cornerstone Assembly of God. I have been married to my sweet husband Ernie for over 15 years, and we have four incredible children. I have been a part of Cornerstone for most of my life, and served in a variety of ministries, but my heart is for young people. Most children have not formed a lot of false ideas about God and church. They are willing to listen and accept things by faith. By showing them what the "Word" says, and explaining it in a way they can understand, children have unlimited potential. As a Children's Pastor, I want every child in this body to know God, not with their heads, but with their hearts. To love Him above all else and as a result learn to serve Him, obey Him and follow Him every day of their life. I believe that children can avoid a lot of the things their friends may go through, and possibly a lot of the things their own parents went through if they can learn how to truly seek God and know God. Most of the time children are ready, willing and able to grasp these truths. But we need to be there for them, teaching them and guiding them. |
